.... tales from somewhere .... to everywhere .... leaving only footprints behind ....
Beautifully made things have stories to tell, about the hands that shaped them, the materials chosen, the time spent. Once you know these stories you appreciate the inherent value of the object so much more, it embodies more meaning and brings more joy.

OUR LOGO
Embodies a unique artistic dreamcatcher, to not only reflect our business ethos of creating, designing & supplying only unique products, from the purest elements of nature, but also exemplifies our ethics of leaving only footprints behind …
The artistic logo concept originated from the old Native American Ojibwe folk tale of the dreamcatcher origin. Legend has it, long ago in ancient world of the Ojibwe Nation, the Clans were located in one general area known as Turtle Island, where they lived in a dark world. They had no sun no moon, no light of any kind. It was so dark that the animals, birds and insects kept bumping into each other. Asibikaashi (Spider Woman) took care of her children, the people of the land, and still continues so till this day. She is the one that brought the giizis (sun) back to the Ojibwe people. She travelled to the Land of the Sun and brought back a piece of light in her clay bowl. She travelled at night and spun a trail of thread to find her way home, which is why the spiderweb is shaped like the rays of the sun. To this day Asibikaashi, will spin her special web before dawn, and if you are awake, you will see the miracle of how she captured the sunrise, as the light sparkles on the dew which is gathered there on her spun web thread.
Later the Ojibwe Nation dispersed to the four corners of North America, and the Nokomis (grandmothers) took up the practice of weaving magical webs (dreamcatchers) for the new babies, in the shape of a circle to represent how giizis (sun) travels each day across the sky.
These magical webs (dreamcatchers) filters out the bad and allows only good thoughts to enter into. A small hope in the center of the dreamcatcher is where the good thoughts come through. With the first rays of sunlight, the bad will perish. In honor of the origin of the magical web, the number of points where the web connects to the hoop numbers 8 symbolising Spider Woman’s eight legs.
HOW WE WORK
Tri Hita Karana (Three Causes to Prosperity), our lens on life, influence what and how we create our products. “Tri” means three. “Hita” means prosperity and “Karana” means the causes. The Tri Hita Karana concept consists of 3 major wisdoms: “Parhyangan” (God) or the wisdom of the harmony of life between humans with God. “Palemahan” (Natural Surroundings) or the wisdom of the harmony of life between humans and nature. “Pawongan” (Humanity) or the wisdom of the harmony of life between humans with each other. It is a universal strategy to preserve the balance, compatibility and the harmony of life on Mother Earth.
Our ethos is to create unique quality designs from the most environmentally sound components, whilst not only respecting & supporting traditional families, their culture, trade & skills but also encouraging environmentally sustainable natural & biodegradable materials for a healthy planet, workplace & community. Your purchase will therefor support traditional families, their craft, skill & culture, while improving the quality of their lives & providing jobs where there may otherwise be none.
Our designs are ethical, uniquely chiseled or weaved by ancient old hands, amongst the bustle of rural village life, using primitive tools, sustainable, eco-friendly & nontoxic materials, to create individual treasures each with their own tale to tell about the hands that shaped them, time spend, their craftsmanship to be admired and the uniqueness to be treasured for generations to come.
We use no middleman, sourcing directly from local artisans wherever possible because we believe our vertical integration is key to offer true authenticity & the beautiful stories behind each design. Whatever the technique, the final product is always beautiful, intricate, rustic yet refined, and true testaments to the natural beauty of the islands and the remarkable artistry that resides there ….
OUR ARTISANS
I love anything hand-made, carrying a human touch as this brings something special, unique, something less orderly.
“Although the designs are expertly laid out and done, none is ever exactly the same, they all absorb the moment the craftsman made them – whether they pushed hard or soft upon the fabric, how the vegetable dye came out that day & even the weather. This is the kind of thing I love, it makes them unique and collectable.”
MATERIALS
Beautiful natural fibres are the essence of our products. We select only the finest sustainable raw materials for colour, textures and uniqueness.
Limiting the impact on artisan communities and their environment is important to us, which is why we have a preference for locally grown natural fibres and natural dyes. We are passionate about not polluting the waterways where our artisan partners make our stunning products so they and their families can thrive in a healthy environment.
